<br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />.... 1\ '''''.'7 <br /> <br />~~lA~T PHOJECT <br /> <br /> <br />PLAN SELECTION AND ALTERNATIVES <br /> <br />lift of 50 feet would be added to pump water from the terminus of the <br />conduit to the Missouri Heights Reservoir durin~ the nonirrigation season. <br /> <br />Plan 10 is the same as thp adopted plan except that the Basalt power- <br />plant would be installed below the Missouri Heights Reservoir. Approxi- <br />mately 55 second-feet of irrigation water required for the Sopris and <br />Carbondale areas would be routed through the powerplant before being <br />diverted into the Carbondale Canal. <br /> <br />Plan 11 is similar to Plan 9 except that the upper 9.8 miles of the <br />Basalt Conduit would be eliminated. Project water released from the <br />Ruedi Reservoir would flow 2.2 miles in the Fryingpan River to a point <br />where it would be diverted into the potential Fryingpan River Canal. <br />The canal would extend westward on the north side of the river approxi- <br />mately 7 miles, terminating at the 100-second-foot capacity Fryingpan <br />Pumping Plant that would pump water 320 feet to the head of the Basalt <br />Canal. <br /> <br />Plan 12 <br /> <br />Plan 12 would provide water for lands in the Cattle Creek area and <br />lands west of the Roaring Fork and Crystal Rivers not included in previ- <br />ous plans. These additional lands which are in the vicinity of Three <br />!file and Four Mile Creeks would include 2,475 acres of full service land <br />and 1,235 acres of supplemental service land, making a total project area <br />of 15,142 acreS of full service land and 6,223 acres of supplemental serv- <br />ice land. The Sopris and Carbondale areas would not be included in this <br />plan. Water for the lands west of the Roarinp; Fork and Crystal Rivers <br />would be conveyed by the Four Mile Canal which would head at the terminus <br />of the Landis Canal, cross Roaring Fork River by siphon at the lower end <br />of Spring Valley, and continue southeasterly to the service areas. In <br />this plan the Basalt Conduit on the upper alignment would have a capac- <br />ity of 250 second-feet. The Missouri Heights Reservoir would be enlarged <br />to a capacity of 7,000 acre-feet. The Landis Canal would have capacities <br />of 250 second-feet to Cattle Creek and thence 220 second-feet to its <br />terminus. The Four Mile Canal would have a capacity of 80 second-feet. <br /> <br />Plan 13 <br /> <br />Plan 13 would provide water for all land areaS mentioned in previ- <br />ous plans. In addition it would serve 1,413 acres in the Thompson Creek <br />area on the west side of Crystal River, made up of 1,025 acres of full <br />service and 388 acres of supplemental service land. The total project <br />area would thus include 17,862 acres of full service and 7,750 acres of <br />supplemental service land. The Basalt Conduit would have a capacity of <br />200 second-feet to the Missouri Heichts Reservoir which would be enlarged <br />to a capacity of 22,000 acre-feet, representine the maximum water surface <br />elevation that could be reached by gravity flow through the canal. Other <br />project facilities would be provided as in the adopted plan except that <br />the capacity of the Carbondale Canal would be increased to 160 second-feet <br /> <br />44 <br />
