FEBRUARY THROUGH SEPTEMBER

?

.,
,

N

Most Probable Inflow Forecast

....

Q

Green Mountain Reservoir

If most probable runoff conditions develop, releases from Green Mountain Reservoir could be
increased to approximately 200 ft3 Is during March. The target end-of-the-month storage for Green
Mountain in March is 70,000 acre-feet. This target will prepare the reservoir for the spring runoff
season. As the reservoir fills during the May-July runoff period, releases will be adjusted to achieve a
fill without spilling. If the fill is achieved, it could happen by late June.

The impacts of the severe drought will prevent Green Mountain's participation in the Coordinated
Reservoir Operations this spring. The Coordinated Reservoir Operations is an interagency program
developed to enhance the spring peak flows along the 15 Mile Reach in an attempt to benefit the
endangered fish species. The idea behind the plan is to reduce the releases from traditional levels
before and after the peak flow enhancement. During the peak enhancement period. all inflows are
passed through the reservoir for an approximate ten-day period. With normal inflow and near-average
releases for downstream water users during August and September. storage is projected to be
approximately 95,000 acre-feet by the end of September.

With most probable runoff conditions, Denver and Colorado Springs' Blue River depletions are
projected to be approximately 106,300 acre-feet during the Water Year 2003.

Willow Creek Reservoir

Under the most probable conditions, Willow Creek Reservoir will fill to approximately 10,000 acre-
feet by the middle of June. Releases to the river of7 ft3/s between February to April, followed by 24
ft3 Is during May, 44 ft3 Is during June, and 61 ft3 Is are expected. A bypass release through the outlet
works of excess water between April and July will be initiated if Lake Granby approaches maximum
capacity, but this situation is not expected to occur. No bypass releases are anticipated for this year
due to the dry conditions dominating the region. Willow Creek storage will be approximately 9,000
acre-feet by the end of the Water Year, as long as the most probable conditions prevail.

Lake Granbv

Lake Granby storage will approach a low point of86,000 acre-feet by the end of March. Assuming
the most probable inflow, storage volume is expected to reach 254.300 acre-feet, with a surface
water elevation of 8233.63 by the end of June. This water surface level is 36 feet below its
maximum operating elevation of8279.50 feet. The storage volume is more than 200,000 acre-feet
below the 3D-year average reservoir storage for June. No bypass releases are anticipated for this
Water Year. Therefore, Lake Granby will not be able to participate in the Coordinated Reservoir
17
