Ma.ior tunnels would <br /> <br />be- required to pass through Cross Mountain as shown here from U.S. 40 <br /> <br />and to pass through the Divide between the Yampa and \~ite Rivers <br /> <br />near Elk Springs. <br /> <br />The project lands are located in five areas. Going from <br /> <br />east to west, these include (1) the Maybell-Sunbeam area of 9,000 <br />- <br /> <br />acres in the Yampa River valley, as shown from U.S. 40 west of <br /> <br />Maybell, which is between Juniper Mountain <br />-' <br /> <br />shown in the back- <br /> <br />ground, and Cross Mountain which would be served by th e Deadman <br /> <br />Bench canal on the souths ide of the river and by the small Sunbeam <br /> <br />canal which would divert from the Deadman Bench canal and cross <br /> <br />Yampa River just below Juniper Mountain to serve lands on the <br /> <br />. <br />northside of the river as shown from Sunbeam.
