B) Fish disposition
I) The most viable options considered for disposal of expired fish include: a) replace
expired fish into river intact with deflated swim bladders; b) transfer of expired fIsh into
local landfills; c) provide expired fish to local charities. The first option, replacing
expired fish back into the Green River with deflated swim bladder, is currently
considered the best option by biologists and ecologists involved, because this tactic
replaces useable carbon and nutrients back into the Green River ecosystem where it can
be used by native species. Concerns that may arise as a result of this disposition protocol
will be addressed.

2) Downstream banks, eddies and other depositional areas will be regularly monitored for
fish remains. Protocol for disposition will be reevaluated and modified if fish remains are
regularly encountered or if excessive complaints about fish remains at sites are noted.

C) Ute Tribe relations
1) UDWR will designate personnel to communicate progress of the removal project to
and address issues from the Ute Tribe.

2) The Ute Tribe will be notified of removal efforts that affect them or their land and their
input will be solicited by UDWR.

D) Public education
I) Upon arId during preliminary evaluation, UDWR will implement efforts to inform and
educate the public on how and why nonnative removal will assist in recovery of native
endangered fish in the Green River. Such efforts may include providing flyers and
educational information to interested public groups or posting at local community
buildings. For examples, see Attachments 1 and 2.

2) News releases through local newspapers arId newspapers in the Wasatch front area will
take place on a regular basis.

3) Public meetings will be conducted by UDWR for purposes of informing and educating
the interested public and for discussing their concerns.

4) Local recreational boating companies or other recreational users whom may be asked
questions about removal activities observed on the river will be specifically advised as to
UDWR activities. UDWR will generate a mailing list of interested parties that include
these companies for periodic progress updates.

5) UDWR conservation officers will be made aware of nonnative removal efforts so that
they can promote public education on this project and keep the public informed of their
alternatives and options for input.

3 DRAFT
