Project Summary: The purpose is to acquire land from private landowners <br />to restore and protect bottomland habitat. This required acquisition <br />planning, community involvement. establishing'acqutsition procedures. <br />and acquiring land from willing landowners. Planning and community <br />support was accomplished in Utah and initiated in Colorado. Basic <br />procedures and responsibilities were negotiated with Bureau of <br />Reclamation. Ten tracts in Utah and three in Colorado were selected for <br />acquisition from a number of tracts with interested owners. They were <br />surveyed. tested and submitted to Reclamation for acquisition processing <br />and negotiation. Reclamation is preparing title evidence. boundary <br />surveys and appraisals for future negotiations. <br /> <br />IV. Schedule: 1997 to 1999 <br /> <br />V. Basic planning and community involvement was conducted to <br />prepare for acquisitions. Land acquisition procedure was developed with <br />the exception of an environmental assessment and agreements with third <br />parties to monitor the easements. Substantial progress was made toward <br />acquisition of tracts in Utah and Colorado which can be acquired in FY <br />
