9. Does the SLCA intend
to replace Glen Canyon
power with only supply-
side options (e.g., coal-
fired generation)? Will
conservation or
renewable energy sources
be considered?

10. What role will
stakeholders and the
public have in the
Replacement Resources
Methods process? .

In the Replacement Resources Process, the SLCA will consider all "eco-
nomically and technically" feasible electrical power resources. This will
include full consideration of renewable energy sources, energy conserva-
tion, and energy efficiency options on an equal basis with more conven-
tional fossil-fuel resources.

The SLCA will provide for full public participation throughout the Re-
placement Resources Process. Power customers, stakeholders, and the
public will have a voice in identifying methods to replace power lost
from Federal hydropower facilities, providing input on contents of the
draft methods report, and providing feedback to the SLCA on the draft
and final Methods Report.

Various communication methods will be used to keep stakeholders and
the public informed and involved. Communication methods will include
Federal Register notices, information meetings, formal consultation and
comment forums, personal notification letters, and newsletter updates.

To ensure all public concerns are addressed in the decision process, a
summary report or newsletter will be published periodically to respond to
public comments and address concerns and to give the public informa-
tion necessary for effective participation throughout the consultation
process.
