<br /> <br />REPLACEMENT RESOURCES PROCESS <br /> <br />Western Area Power Administration <br /> <br /> <br />Western's mission is to <br />market and transmit <br />reliable low-cost electric <br />power, provide related <br />services, and encourage <br />efficient energy <br />management in an <br />environmentally sound <br />manner. <br /> <br /> <br />The Salt <br />Lake City <br />Area (SLCA) is <br />responsible for <br />marketing power <br />from the Colorado <br />River Storage (CRSP), <br />Collbran, Rio Grande, and <br />Provo River projects... <br /> <br />Western is a power marketing administration within the <br />U.S. Department of Energy. It was created in 1977 with <br />the passage of the Department Of Energy Organization <br />Act. Western markets power to municipalities, coopera- <br />tives, public utility and irrigation districts, Federal and <br />State agencies and Indian tribes. Western's responsibilities are divided <br />between its Headquarters office in Golden, Colorado, and five area <br />offices located in Billings, Montana; loveland, Colorado; Phoenix, <br />Arizona; Sacramento, California; and Salt lake City, Utah. <br /> <br />Western's mission is to market and transmit reliable low-cost electric <br />power, provide related services, and encourage efficient energy manage- <br />ment in an environmentally sound manner. Electricity generated at 55 <br />Federal powerplants is marketed by Western and delivered over Federal <br />transmission lines, and the lines of interconnecting utilities to,customers <br />located in 15 western states.
