EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Successful recovery of the endangered fishes of the Green River, Utah, will depend upon availability of adequate habitat in which these fishes can complete their life cycles. All of the historic floodplain is either in Federal, State, Tribal, or private ownership. The greatest concentration of bottomland areas lies between Pariette Draw and Split Mountain. These bot~omland habitats are important because of their proximity to Razorback sucker (Xyrauchen texanus) and Colorado squawfish (Ptychocheilus lucius) spawning areas and their potential for providing important nursery areas. The information in this report was primarily gathered from land ownership records on file in the Office of the Recorder, Uintah County, Utah (Recorder). It was assumed these records were the most current, accurate and legally valid documents available at the time of compilation. The purpose of this report is to provide the RIP's bottomland restoration program with information for land acquisition and development of wildlife easements. The Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) office in Vernal, Utah, provided lists of all landowners registered under their conservation, crop and irrigation assistance programs, and aerial photographs delineating ownership of the river floodplain between Pariette Draw and Split Mountain. Ownership and acreage were verified with deed and easement records in the Uintah County Recorder's office. There was an estimated 48,485 acres lac]) (19,621 hectares [hall of land in III inventoried sites between Pariette Draw and Split Mountain. Most of these floodplain sites were Federal (60%) and privately (24%) owned land; with State (4%) and Tribal (12%1 lands making up the remaining acreage. The estimated acreage ranged from 100 to 4,423 ac (41-1,790 ha) on Federal lands, from 10 to 500 ac (4-202 ha) on State lands, and 25 to 1,840 ac (10-745 ha) on Tribal and 4 to 1,423 ac (2-576 halon private lands. viii
