The area has strong communities of German,
Swedish, Russian, Italian and Mexican Americans. Weldona
Valley and neighboring Fort Morgan share the Italian commu-
nity; Weldona Valley seems to lack the fraction of German
Americans prevalent elsewhere. Table,III shows that inmigration
from other states has been concentrated in the Brush and Fort

Morgan areas, but has not generally been very strong. The

inmigration which has occurred has been dominantly from the
~orth Central states.
Although the table does not show it, it should be noted
that there are almost no black people in any of the research
area, hut there is a substantial Spanish-speaking and Spanish-
surnamed group, who are no!: identified as of Mexican origin
In Table II. The demographic characteristics of these persons
IS detailed in Section 3.1.
Table IV is valuable in estimating the attachment people
may have to their homes by virtue of their tenure period in
1970.
