PROJECT SCHEDULE

Our study was initiated in 1982 and will be completed in 1986 with prepara-

tion of a Planning Report/Draft Environmental Statement. Several interme-

diate steps will be taken in evaluating study findings to determine if po-

tential for salinity control is available and worthy of further study.

The first step is known as the preliminary findings stage, which is sched-

uled for completion within the next month, and culminates in a Preliminary

Findings Report. In order to prepare this report, we are conducting analy-

ses of salinity control alternatives developed to date. Based upon prelim-

inary data we anticipate that feasible control methods can be found and the

study will continue.

The second step 1S know as the plan formulation stage. This stage is

scheduled to be completed 1n November of 1984. In this stage, various

identified alternatives will be more thoroughly analyzed, and a "best plan"

will be selected for further development.

Once the project plan has been selected and technical studies are complete,

the Planning Report/Draft Environmental Statement will be written. This

report undergoes an extensive review and eventually goes to Congress for

project construction authorization and appropriation of funds.

A su~nary of these activities is displayed on the attached bar chart.

002486

(10)
