<br />All Colorado River Storage Project power. which <br />includes power from Glen Canyon Dam. is sold within <br />the strictly-defined marketing area shown on the <br />map. The area includes 4 counties in tlevada and a <br />small portion of California .east of the 115th <br />meridian (in recent years. however, no contracts <br />have existed with users in the California portion <br />of the l'{1arketing area). Within this region <br />are over two <br />hundred <br />preference <br />customers who <br />receive power <br />under long-tenn <br />contracts wi th <br />the Western Area <br />Power <br />Admi ni stration, <br />which markets and <br />contro-ls power <br />del iveries from <br />its Power <br />Operations Center <br />in Montrose, <br />Colorado. <br />Projections of a <br />future demand for <br />peaking power by <br />preference <br />customers within <br />the marketing <br />area are the <br />basis of this <br />feasibility <br />study. <br />Gl en Canyon <br />Dam generates <br />about 6s.t of the <br />energy produced <br />by the CRSP <br />sys tern J whi ch <br />includes five <br />other powerplants <br />and an <br />interconnecting <br />transmission <br />system. Excess <br />energy is al so <br />used to displace <br />011- and <br />gas-generated <br />po\'/er during <br />peri ods ,of peak <br />use.
