<br />Construction ~ctiv-ities:;"AJI work contracted by the Bureau of Reclamation on
<br />the Florida proj~ct has been accomplished except for a few small additional and
<br />corrective facilit~es which will be completed in 19661 ,Lernon Dam"key feature -of
<br />the projeet; was!oompleted and storage of water began' in November 1963. First
<br />irrigation water \ releases were made from Lemon Reservoir in May.1964. En-
<br />largement: of the Florida' farmers ditch and. the 'Floriqa .canal, construotion of the
<br />diversion dam, ;and construction of the Florida laterals are completed. With
<br />funds ltdvanced!by the- Bureau of Reolamation, ,the Florida Water Conservanoy
<br />Distriot completed work on rehabilitation of approximately '50 miles of the canal
<br />and distribution system involving about 450 structures, This section of ,the
<br />distribution sys~em will serve :11,900 acres 'of 'the; 19,450 acres:in the project.
<br />Water stored ;1n -the ,Lemon Reservoir was',available on a'rental basis through
<br />thel 1966 irrigatJon season. Lemon_ Dam,.is being operated and_maintained by
<br />the Bureau duripg ,1966. _The, Florida, Water Conservancy -District is .operating
<br />alL.oonveyance $.nd distribution, facilities- during'1966. It is planned to transfer
<br />the . project faciIt-.ties to the-' district .for, -operation and I_maintenance -by January 1,

<br />Lemop."_Reservoir received its first full year of recreation use ctudng 1965.
