<br />The 'Bureal,J, off Sport Fisheries and Wildlife worked in cooperation
<br />with the various, State fish and,gallle departments to accomplish the
<br />following, fish and wildlife developments during fiscal year 1966:,
<br />'(1) Stock~d reservoirs. with 3.9 million rainbow Iir1gerlings.
<br />(2) Ds.tail~d engineering plans were completed for the 14"mile
<br />access road:to the Jones Hole National Fish Hatchery, Utah.
<br />Th,e Bureau/of }>ublic Roads advertised for construction bids in
<br />':May 1966 and aw:arded a contract for $1,171,685 on June 14,
<br />1966, for constructing the road. Preliminary plans f<lf. the
<br />hatchery were developed under a private engineering contract.
<br />Work has beel1 initiated on the plans, specifications,and esti.
<br />mates for t~e .diversion channel, water supply structu,es, and
<br />concrete .rac~way~. ". ", , ,
<br />" (3) With :appollltment of an assistant hatchery manager, the
<br />Bureau of Sport Fisheries and Wildlife assumed operation of the
<br />Ohipeta rearing unit, Oolorado. This unit, together with the
<br />North Fork trout farm, will be developed as the Delta National
<br />Fish Hatch~ry, to serve the reservoir complel\of the Ourecanti
<br />unit as wellas the stoc.king reqUirements of nearby participating
<br />projects. The master development plan for the hatchery was.
<br />approved and a contract. entered into with the bureau of public
<br />roads to provide detailed engineering ona,ccess road alinement
<br />and ,construction cos;ts." The Bureau of Sport Fisheries and
<br />Wildl,ife appraised and negotiated for potential pUblic fishing
<br />'eaaelllent areas on the Gunnison' IUverand major tributaries,
<br />above Blue: Mesa Reservoir in cooperation with the Colorado
<br />Department of Game, Fish and Pa~ks. Ini~ia! emphasis was
<br />plac~d on a'key tract o~ 65 acre~. Thi~area w,lllmplemeJ;1t both
