Preliminary plans f<lf. the <br />hatchery were developed under a private engineering contract. <br />Work has beel1 initiated on the plans, specifications,and esti. <br />mates for t~e .diversion channel, water supply structu,es, and <br />concrete .rac~way~. This unit, together with the <br />North Fork trout farm, will be developed as the Delta National <br />Fish Hatch~ry, to serve the reservoir complel\of the Ourecanti <br />unit as wellas the stoc.king reqUirements of nearby participating <br />projects. The master development plan for the hatchery was. <br />approved and a contract. entered into with the bureau of public <br />roads to provide detailed engineering ona,ccess road alinement <br />and ,construction cos;ts." The Bureau of Sport Fisheries and <br />Wildl,ife appraised and negotiated for potential pUblic fishing <br />'eaaelllent areas on the Gunnison' IUverand major tributaries, <br />above Blue: Mesa Reservoir in cooperation with the Colorado <br />Department of Game, Fish and Pa~ks.
