Box 69 Phone (303) 249-3813 <br />Montrose, Colorado 81402 <br /> <br />June 1, 1983 <br /> <br />Dear Water User: <br /> <br />The Bureau of Reclamation has requested the Uncompahgre Valley Water Users <br />Association's help to obtain information to better determine the cost of <br />the proposed winter water replacement. <br /> <br />The information obtained would not obligate any water user, the Association, <br />or the Bureau of Reclamation and would be used solely to estimate the needs <br />for winter water replacement. <br /> <br />Investigations under the Lower Gunnison Basin salinity control unit have <br />indicated that the amount of salt in the Gunnison and Colorado Rivers <br />could be significantly reduced by replacing current winter flows in <br />Uncompahgre Valley canals with stock water delivered through the domestic <br />pipe system. <br /> <br />The information requested by the Bureau of Reclamation is the winter water <br />requirement for the months of November through March, a typical non- <br />irrigating season, to estimate peak demands for winter water replacement. <br /> <br />Please fill out this preapplication form (white) and mail or deliver it back <br />to the Uncompahgre Valley Water Users Association, and retain the computation <br />sheets (yellow) for your records. <br /> <br />Thank you for your cooperation. <br /> <br />The Board of Directors <br />Uncompahgre Valley Water Users Association <br /> <br />OCt869 <br />
