(,~/ji -..... <br />'f . <br /> <br />1.0 <br /> <br />I NTROD UCTI ON <br /> <br />This report summarizes Saline Water Transport and Use Office planning and <br />related activities for the previous month and anticipated activities for the <br />coming months. The purpose of the report is to inform involved individuals of <br />current and upcoming activities so that a coordinated effort can be maintained <br />and project flag dates met. <br /> <br />Project Manager, Michael Clinton, has been detailed to head a staff support <br />team for a Commission studying Reclamation's Garrison Diversion Unit, North <br />Dakota. Walter Fite will be acting for Clinton, through the end of the year. <br /> <br />2.0 SUBTEAM: WATER RIGHTS/WATER SUPPLY/STATE ISSUES <br />2.1 JULY-AUGUST EVENTS <br /> <br />Bill McDonald, Director, Colorado Water Conservation Board, was briefed <br />on options for the use of Glenwood-Dotsero Springs saline water. <br /> <br />Officials from the State of Wyoming were briefed on the possible uses of <br />Big Sandy water. The officials expressed their wishes for more concrete <br />plan formulation on the project. <br /> <br />Reclamation completed its report to Utah on the relative merits of <br />saline water and liquid carbon dioxide (C02)/coal slurry options to <br />carry coal to the Intennountain Power Project. <br /> <br />2.2 ANTICIPATED SEPTEMBER EVENTS <br /> <br />Reclamation will brief the governors of affected states in late <br />September on current project status. <br /> <br />3.0 SUBTEAM: COAL MARKET/COAL SUPPLY (Johnson) <br />3.1 JULY-AUGUST EVENTS <br /> <br />Source documents relating to coal supplies and markets were obtained, <br />and meetings with various companies confirmed the information contained <br />in the documents. The data and information were used to determine the <br />project's viability and to identify additional options based on market <br />volume requirements and supply sources. <br /> <br />Aquatrain, Inc., staff researched the markets for coal and C02 in <br />Pacific Rim countries and in southern Californi.a, respectively. <br /> <br />1 <br />
