<br />002356 <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />sign the authorization next week. <br /> <br />WESTERN WATER PLANNING <br /> <br />Glen Canvon Adaotive Management <br /> <br />The Glen Canyon Dam Adaptive Management Program Technical Work Group (TWG) met <br />in Phoenix, Arizona on September 20-21,2000. Mr. Harris attended the meeting as the Board's <br />representative. Largely, the TWG focused on refining the Program's management objectives (MOs). <br />The MOs are used to develop strategic and annual work plans, budgets and research and monitoring <br />proposals and programs. A presentation was made by an academic peer review panel on the <br />effectiveness of the Lees Ferry rainbow trout fishery program activities. Staff from the Grand <br />Canyon Monitoring and Research Center (GCRMC) provided the TWG with an update on the <br />administrative and fiscal transfer of the GCMRC from Reclamation's Upper Colorado Regional <br />Office in Salt Lake City, Utah, to the U.S. Geological Survey's Flagstaff, Arizona Office. Finally, <br />Reclamation provided an overview of Colorado River Basin hydrologic conditions. The next <br />scheduled meeting ofthe TWG is November 8-9, 2000, in Phoenix, Arizona. <br /> <br />WATER QUALITY <br /> <br />Colorado River Basin Salinitv Control Forum <br /> <br />Colorado River Basin Salinity Control Forum Meeting in Henderson, Nevada <br /> <br />The Forum is scheduled to hold its fall meeting on Friday, October 27'h in Henderson, <br />Nevada. Commissioner Bernal has accepted an invitation to attend the meeting and will brief Forum <br />members on issues along the Colorado River in the border area. Prior to the Forum meeting, on <br />Thursday, October 26'\ Forum members will be taken on a tour of the Southern Nevada Water <br />Authority's new intake facilities, and then observe cleanup efforts that are under way to intercept <br />and mitigate the perchlorate groundwater plume that has migrated to Las Vegas Wash. <br /> <br />Reclamation's Basinwide Salinity Control Program <br /> <br />Legislation to increase Reclamation's Basinwide Salinity Control Program funding from <br />$75 million to $175 million is currently being held up by issues associated with a large number of <br />other bills. The issues are not associated with this legislation.
