In addition to fultilling its recurring duties such as arranging meeting plll.ces and Il.genda and handling publicity and informa- tion relative to AWRBIAC matters, the Administrative Committee has during the year handled or initiated the tollowing activities: (a) RecoJlllllllnded to the AWR Committee the appointDlent ot an ad hoc colllDlittee to study, develop and recoJlllllllnd procedures to illlprove the exchange of program information between interested agencies. (b) Sponsored negotiations vith and handled arrangements tor a Joint meeting with the Missouri Basin Inter-Agency Committee. (c) Arranged through the Corps of Engineers tor a tield trip, in connectiOn vith the January meeting in Vicksburg, Miss., of theU. 8. Waterways Experiment Station at Vicksburg and the Mississippi River Model at Clinton, Miss. (d) Recommended, as a result of instructions from AWRBIAC to restudy the functions of the Administrative Committee, an amendment to the Articles of Organiz.s.tion which would define t.he duties ot the Administrative Committee as "to act as a general staff body to the Inter-Agency Committee and recommend matters which require aotion by the Inter-Agency Committee, including procedure by which such aotion might be taken," in addition to presently-defined duties. This recolII- mended amendment was considered and disapproved by the AWR Committee at the November 1956 meeting in Hot Springs, Ark. (e) Appointed a task torce composed of J. Roy Penix, Corps ot Engineers, and H. 8. Varner, Jr., Bureau ot Rec18Jlll.tion, to dratt this annual report for submission by the Administrative Committee to AWRBIAC tor its consideration and adoption.
