SUMMARY SHEETS (Continued)

Recreation facilities would be provided at McPhee and Monument Creek
Reservoirs and along the Dolores River downstream from McPhee Dam.
Project water would be released from McPhee Reservoir to provide a stream
fishery, and easements would be acquired along the river for public
access. Releases also would be made for white-water boating but boating
opportunities would be decreased. Land around McPhee Reservoir would
be acquired and managed as a deer and elk winter range to compensate for
losses of big game habitat in the reservoir basin. Wildlife management
areas would also be developed around Monument Creek and Dawson Draw
Reservoirs.

PROJECT FEATURES
Great Monu-
Cut ment Dawson
McPhee Dike.Y Creek Draw
Dams ( feet>
Height above streambed 270 ' 64 43 56
Crest length 1,300 1,900 1,850 1,085
Reservoirs
Capacity (acre-feet)
Active 229,000 560 0
Inactive 152,000 70 3,210
Dead 100 60 100
Total 381,100 690 3,310
Surcharge 18,200 635 2,360
Water surface area (acres)
Total pool 4,470 84 294
Inactive pool 2,160 25 294
Maximum Capacity
lift (second-
( feet> feet>
Pumping Plants
Great Cut 108/
To Dove Creek Canal 380
To U-Lateral 29 72
Fairview 169 98
Cahone 162 72
Cross Canyon 83 20
Monument Creek 110 23
Pleasant View 147 36
Ruin Canyon 171 85
Y Part of McPhee Reservoir

2
