<br />2 <br /> <br /> <br />0019H <br /> <br />ACTIVITIES AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS <br /> <br />PS lAC Meetings <br /> <br />62-3 Meetin!=l--Santa Fe, New Mexico, September 5-6, 1962 <br /> <br />Hydrologic problems and improved methods for collecting and processing basic <br />hydrologic data formed the central theme of the 62-3 PSIAC program meeting. <br />The Technical Subcommittee on Hydrology arranged for and sponsored the program. <br />New Mexico was the host state. Hydrology Subcommittee Chairman, Eugene L. <br />Peck of the U. S. Weather Bureau, presented the program. <br /> <br />The basic data problem, both present and projected future, was reviewed along with <br />projected water needs, particularly for the Pacific Southwest area.' New techniques <br />for collecting and processing basic data by el ectronic means were discussed and new <br />and improved equipment for hydrologic data collecting was demonstrated in 0 slide <br />lecture. <br /> <br />Speakers were Prof. Roy K, Linsley, Executive Head, Deportment of Civil Engineer- <br />ing, Stanford University; Dr. Nathaniel Wollman, Chairman, Deportment of Econo- <br />mics, University of New Mexico; Dr. J. C. Bellomy, Director, Notional Resources <br />Research Institute, University of Wyoming; and Paul C. Benedict, Branch Area Chief, <br />Quality of Water, Pacific Coast Areo U. S. Geological Survey. <br /> <br />Approximately 65 people attended the meeting. <br /> <br />62-4 Meetin!=l--Las Ve!=las, Nevada, December 4-5, 1962 <br /> <br />Planning water and related land resources formed the central theme for the 62-4 <br />meeting of PSIAC. The U, S. Deportment of Agriculture developed and presented <br />the program, Nevada was the host state. <br /> <br />The status and outlook for river basin plonning was reviewed along with expected <br />future demands for land and water throughout the United States. Methods of . <br />financing soil and water revelopment through the Formers Home Administration <br />were also reviewed, <br /> <br />Speakers included Gladwin E. Young, who presented one subject os Chairman of the <br />Inter-Agency Committee on Water Resources and 0 second subject os Deputy <br />Administrator, Soil Conservation Service. Henry A. Palm, Director of the Soil <br />and Water Loon Division, Formers Home Administration, was the concluding <br />speaker. <br /> <br />Approximately 55 people attended the meeting. <br />
