The sewer system at Eagle Mountain camp <br />was reconditioned and largely rebuilt. The water well and its <br />equipment at Camino camp gave signs of failure and repairs were <br />undertaken. The employment of women telephone operators at the <br />pumping plants was terminated .June 30, 1947. A resident physi- <br />cian was employed and stationed at Gene headquarters camp for <br />District employees located east of Banning, <br />The force required to operate the pumping plants, transmission <br />lines and telephone system, and to maintain patrol roads averaged <br />75 during the year. The mess hall and dormitory at Gene camp <br />were in continuous operation, and the mess hall at Eagle Mountain <br />for a short time to accommodate the crews engaged in work on the <br />addition to the sewage disposal system alld construction of a swim- <br />ming pool. <br /> <br />Additio1ls aud betterments <br />The 230-kv cascade bank of transformers for serving Camino <br />camp with power from Hoover Dam was placed in successful <br />operation. Electric refrigerators and desert coolers were installed <br />in the cottages at that camp. Trial installations were made of <br />power-driven compressors and improved types of heat exchangers <br />ill an effort to improve the operation of coolers for the operators' <br />cottages at the pumping plants. The Edison' Company completed <br />the installation of a 230-kv oil circuit breaker in the Camino-Gene <br /> <br />1\ <br />
