<br />o <br />,-) <br />~...." <br />N <br />N <br />N <br /> <br />d. <br /> <br />Independence Pass/Twin Lakes Tunnel <br />I <br /> <br />Tw;in Lakes Tunnel is operated by the Twin Lakes <br /> <br />Reservoir and Canal Company, The company diverts water <br /> <br />from the headwaters of the Roaring Fork into Lake Creek and <br /> <br />Twin Lakes Reservoir in the Arkansas River Basin. Colorado <br /> <br />Spring~ and Aurora hold rights to 59,55 percent of the <br /> <br />tunnel water or 32.426 acre-feet of the decreed capacity. <br /> <br />The 19~6-1985 average annual diversion was 36,000 acre <br />feet. . The maximum diversion through the tunnel was 62.020 <br /> <br />acre-f~et and occurred in 1970. Decreed capacity in 1975 <br />was reported as 54.452 acre-feet. The 1965 normalized <br />diversion was 36.950 acre-feet. Thus. no expansion of the <br /> <br />diversion has occurred. Average annual depletions are <br /> <br />projec~ed to increase by 7000 acre-feet with tunnel <br /> <br /> <br />improvements and additional east slope storage by 2000. <br /> <br />Values,were supplied by the Colorado Water Conservation <br /> <br />Board. Colorado Sprinqs/Hoosier Pass Tunnel <br /> <br />Si~ce 1952 the Hoosier Pass Tunnel has brought water <br />from tne Upper Blue River to Montgomery Reservoir on the <br />MiddleiFork of the South Platte. Water released from <br /> <br />Montgomery is diverted directly to Colorado Springs <br /> <br />reservdirs in the Arkansas River Basin or left in the South <br /> <br />Platte iBasin and used for exchange purposes with Aurora. <br /> <br />-3- <br />
