Interviews were held with 33 of the farmers <br /> <br />in the area to obtain data relating to their current farming and <br /> <br />ranching operations. This data included cropping patterns, crop <br /> <br />yields, farm sizes, type and number of livestock, livestock turn-off <br /> <br />rates, machinery ,used, etc. This data was tabulated and used in the <br /> <br />farm budget analysis to measure project benefits and repayment ability. <br /> <br />Benefits; The project irrigation benefits were determined by com- <br /> <br />paring farm budgets representing the with project condition to those <br /> <br />representing the without project condition. The farm budget data <br /> <br />for the without project condition was obtained from ,the Farm Management <br />! <br />Survey and reflects current conditions. Data for the with project <br /> <br />farm budgets was obtained from local agricultural leaders and com- <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />parisons with similar areas having a full water supply. Prices in <br /> <br />both the with and without project conditions are 1978 current normal- <br /> <br />ized prices and were established under the guidelines given by the <br /> <br />,Water Resource Council. The increased net income projected under <br /> <br />the with project condition for the project area is the benefit of <br /> <br />project irrigation. <br />
