;-
,. ,

.,

ODa3~O

Your system description calls for a remote terminal to be located at the
National Weather Service at Colorado Springs Municipal Airport. This terminal
will be a IBM compatible micro computer and will be capable of taking data by
modem from either of the base stations.

The radio repeaters that you request can be met by HANDAR Model 544V Store and
Forward Repeater. The HANDAR repeater incorporate a unique store and forward
feature. Data is received from a remote site, stored momentarily, and then
retransmitted at the same frequency. Consequently, only one frequency is
required, unlike conventiOnal repeaters that require two frequencies. This is
especially advantageous because of the short supply of frequencies available
for this service (20 VHF in the U.S.A.). In a multiple repeater system more
than one frequency may be necessary. In this case it is also possible to use
two frequencies with the HANDAR repeaters.

In summary, HANDAR will be responsible for supplying all software for real
time reporting and analysis of the rainfall events. HANDAR will install all
base station hardware and software. HANDAR technicians will start up the
system and will provide all training and documentation needed to operate the
system. All HANDAR equipment including the computers are guaranteed against
defect for a one year period.

As part of this solicitation response HANDAR would like to offer a technical
discussion/proposal that explains in details each of the component parts that
we have offered or may offer. We believe that after your, and the task force
review of our proposal is completed, HANDAR will be afforded the opportunity
to meet with the task force to review both the technical and pricing
requirements to fulfill your early flood warning system needs.

If further information is required please do not hesitate to contact our
representative Mr. Jay Livesay at (303) 292-0337 or myself at (408) 734-9640.

JCR/er
