<br />GOJ333 <br /> <br />r <br />! <br /> <br />The 590V comes with a battery that is located inside the instrument housing <br />system that is capable of operating for 6 months with uninterrupted use. <br />Another advantage for specifying the HANDAR synthesized radio is the ability <br />to adjust the output. It is believed that 50 to 75% of your sites could <br />achieve data transmission at a much lower output wattage. HANDAR's radio is <br />adjustable for output wattage and the lower the output the longer the life of <br />the battery. HANDAR is the only company that offers a low battery warning <br />which is transmitted with the data to your central system so that maintenance <br />can be planned for, not guessed at. <br /> <br />The 6 stream gauges that are specified for your flood warning system can be <br />accomplished by three methods. First, utilizing stilling wells which would <br />incorporate HANDAR's model 436 incremental Shaft Encoder. If stilling wells <br />are the preferred method for stream gauge measurements HANDAR would propose to <br />supply the floats and incremental shaft encoder with cabling. <br /> <br />The second method of measuring flood height is with an acoustical sensor. The <br />physical placement of the sensor is the limiting factor in using this measure~ <br />ment technology and usually requires a bridge for the placement. HANDAR has <br />the capability of supplying acoustical sensors if so desired. <br /> <br />The third method is the utilization of pressure sensors. The HANDAR 585B <br />pressure measurement system is included in our quotation to meet your require- <br />ment. <br /> <br />-wi <br /> <br />Our quotation includes 150' of cabling because the location of the electronics <br />at each site was not specified. Also not specified was the protection <br />required for the pressure sensors when a flood is occuring. Because of the <br />silt, debris, and very rapid movement of water (that typically occurs in a <br />Colorado River flood), the utilization of pressure sensors and the protection <br />of the sensors will have to be explored in detail. In any event, whichever of <br />the three methods are chosen HANDAR instrumentation with associated sensors <br />will meet or exceed your measurement requirement. <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />i <br />: .~ <br /> <br />The base stations specified are configured to include the model 548SV <br />receiver/decoder connected to a IBM compatible micro computer and that combi- <br />nation has the capability of processing the remote transmitted data in a real <br />time format. Also included is our model 600-0743 power supply to meet your <br />uninterrupted power supply requirements. <br /> <br />The alert software package that HANDAR will furnish is <br />that which is specified in the systems description. <br />Alert software is a QNX based software package that <br />competitive software in three key areas. <br /> <br />a superior product to <br />HANDAR model 547-5005 <br />is superior to the <br /> <br />User friendliness, superior color graphics modeling, and macros used for many <br />different forms of data retrieval and data reduction. HANDAR would be more <br />than pleased to demonstrate the full alert software package. <br />
