'ftlis rate is

the difference between the flood irrigation deep percolation rate of

1.56 acre-feet/acrejyear and the sprinkler irrigation rate of 0.79 acre-

feet/acrejyear.

- Cost estimates were prepared using Reclamation cost estimating procedures
for off-farm facilities. SCS estimating procedures were used for on-farm
costs.

- wildlife mitigation cost estimates for off-farm developments are based on an

average of 6 square feet of habitat that would be impacted per linear foot of

open lateral eliminated and 72 square feet of habitat per linear foot of main

canal eliminated. An average cost of $3,000 per acre of mitigation land

required was used in the estimate.

- Wildlife mitigation costs for on-farm developments are assumed to be
4 percent of the annual equivalent construction cost. This value is based on
SCS experience and policy with other similar projects.

- Costs to local farmers were not included in the determination of cost
effectiveness. These local costs include 30 percent cost sharing of all

IV-4

"" .. (':.., ~.
U'v'" v L I
