Mallards and green-wing teal
breed here, but no census has been made.

(13) An archeological survey was conducted during the summer
and fall of 1964 by the University of Denver, Department of
Anthropology. A few sites were located, but the materials
recovered were-not of major significance and further studies
were not recommended. These sites were inundated by reservoir
enlargement.

(14) The land acquisition for enlargement of Turquoise Lake
resulted in the loss of commercial production on more than
2,800 acres of private lands, which included the lake and
adjacent forest. Land acquisition also included 1,165 acres
of natural resource land managed by BLM. Although the addi-
tional land that was inundated totals 986 acres, the remaining
lands were required for recreation development, and no
commercial timber production will occur when this is completed.
There was no cultivation or livestock grazing on the National
Forest area inundated.

5.

Mt. Construction of the Mt.
Elbert Conduit will permit delivery of 3,000 gallons per
minute of high quality water to the Leadville National Fish
Hatchery. "Increased fish production at the hatchery, made
possible by the increased quantity and improved thermal
condition of the water supply, would support an additional
100,000 man-days of fishing annually"(Fish and Wildlife
Service, 1969).

(2) There will be no relocation of families or buildings
necessitated by the Mt.
