.

.

R. Wayne Cheney
Hydraulic Engineer

Power operations must be conducted within the limitations of state water
statues, interstate compacts, international water treaties, and federal
legislation. In addition, CRSP hydroelectric capacity and energy resources
are largely dependent on climatic conditions which affect both the supply
and use of water.

Natural flows in the Colorado River at Lee Ferry Arizona are shown for the
period 1896 to 1981. In the 18 years since CRSP generation was initiated"
the flows have exceeded the 1896-1981 average annual flow 7 times, equaled
the average in 1971, and were less than the average 10 times. In spite of
the 10 less than average years, the reservoirs have accumulated about 31 MAF
of water in storage since 1963.

Projections of project generation after 1981 were based on hydrological
records between 1906 and 1981 modified by the projected future water
depletions.

16
