The CAWCD oversees CAP operations.

The board, meeting at project headquarters at 23636 North
Seventh Street, Phoenix, also approved:

--A tax rate of four cents per $100 of assessed valuation to
fund demonstration water recharge projects in Maricopa and Pima
counties. The tax will be imposed in those counties only, with
the money raised in each county spendable only for projects in
the county where it is collected.

--An $82 million budget for the fiscal year starting July 1,
1991, and ending June 30, 1992. This represents a 9.3 percent
increase over a budget of $75 million for the fiscal year ending
June 30, 1991.

Besides the property (ad valorem)' tax, CAWCD activities are
funded by the sale of water and electricity. Colorado River water
is delivered to cities, industries, agricultural districts and
Indian reservations in the CAWCD's three-county service area.

--more--
