Eleven <br />storage facilities, constructed and operated by the Bureau of Reclama- <br />tion or the Corps of Engineers which serve the irrigation systema <br />covered in this report are aa follows: <br /> <br />Constructed by the Bureau of Reclamation: <br /> <br />(8) Bonny, Enders, Norton and Lovewell Reservoirs; Swanson, <br />Hugh Butler and Harry Strunk Lakes in the Republican River <br />Basin, <br /> <br />(b) Kirwin and Webster Reservoir. in the Solomon River Basin. <br /> <br />(c) Cedar Bluff Reservoir on the Smoky Hill River. <br /> <br />Constructed by the Corps of Engineers: <br /> <br />(a) Harlan County Reservoir in the Republican River Basin. <br /> <br />Fifteen canal systems and six diversion dams served by the above <br />storage facilities are now in operation in the Kansas River Projects <br />area, All cansls, laters1s and diversion dsms will be operated and <br />maintained by the irrigation districts in 1966. <br /> <br />The Bureau of Reclamation started construction of the Almena irrigs- <br />tion system in 1965, snd construction will be continued in 1966, <br />Construction of the Glen Elder Dam, rsilroad relocation and the protec- <br />tive facilities was stsrted by the Bureau of Reclamation in 1964, high- <br />way relocation work in 1965. These construction sctivities will be <br />continued in 1966, <br /> <br />Capacity allocations for the eleven reservoirs presently serving irriga- <br />ted areas are shown in Tsble 1. Tables 2, 3 snd 4 show the forecasted <br />inflows, 1965 operations snd a comparison of 1965 precipation with prior <br />years. The reservoirs and main irrigation canals of the Kanaas River <br />Projecta are shown on the general map of the Kansas River Projects, <br /> <br />IRRIGATION DISTRICTS <br /> <br />Nine irrigation districts in the Kansas River Projecta have contracted <br />with the Bureau of Reclamation for a water supply and repayment of the <br />conatruction of irrigation facilities, Table No, 5 shows the status <br />of the repayment and water service contracts. Table No.6 shows the <br />acres irrigated iQ 1965 and the acreage expected to be irrigated in <br />1966 for each irrigation district. <br /> <br />Frenchman Valley Irrigation District and H & RW Irrigation District <br /> <br />Culbertson Diversion Dsm and Canal were reconstructed and Culbertson <br />Extension system constructed to serve 9,600 Bcres in the Frenchman <br />Valley Irrigstion District snd 11,490 acres in the H & RW Irrigation <br /> <br />2 <br />
