Army Corps of Sngineers (Corps) on the eXlsting safe <br />channel capacity for the San Juan ~iver below Navajo Dam. <br /> <br />Our two of':lces ~ombi.nec. on a :998 Summar:; Ke!:'oc: =::.::.~~d "Channel <br />Capacity Below Navajo Dam and t.he Potent~al for Increasing to 6,000 Cubic <br />Feet E'er Second." On ':he bas.:..s of :~i.s i:11/esti.gation, the Corps has <br />determined that. the current safe channel capacity for t.he San Juan directly <br />below Navajo Dam is 5,000 cubic feet per second (cfs). With this letter we <br />are formally advising you that no release from Navajo Dam should exceed 5,000 <br />cfs without the prior approval from this office. <br /> <br />Upon completion of your EIS, we intend to revise the Navajo Dam and <br />Reservoir Report on Reservoir Regulation for Flood Control to reflect current <br />channel capacities below Navajo Dam.
