The alternatives ar~: <br /> <br />1. No Act1~n (co~tlnuation of present management) for the Spruce Creet <br />Area and contlnued wilderness status for the Deadman Projection. <br /> <br />2. Wilderrl~s$ designation for the Spruce Creek Area and continued <br />wilderness status for the Deadman Projection. (Proposed Action) <br /> <br />3, Nonwllclerness. al.location for the Spruce Creek Area and continued <br />wildern'ess status for the Deadman Projection. <br /> <br />4. Partial' wilderness/partial nonwilderness allocation for the Spruce <br />Creek Area< and continued wilderness status for the Deadman Projection; <br /> <br />5. Nonwilderness allocation for the Spruce Creek Area and declassifica- <br />tion of<~he Deadman Projection as wilderness. <br /> <br />6. Wildernees:designation for the Spruce Creek Area and declassification: <br />of the Oeadman Projection aswil derness. <br /> <br />.. . <br />The Forest ServiQe's preferred alternative is Alternative 2. It is also the . <br />environmentally preferable alternative because it will allow the natural processes <br />to continue wit~'lfmited management. <br /> <br />This Final Environmental Impact Statement contains material which updates and <br />supplements the praft Environmental Impact Statement, and the comments <br />received on the anternatives and the responses to those comments. The addi- <br />tions are minor Orlddo not change the alternatives or the analysis presented <br />in the DEIS. Co"~equently, to reduce paperwork, changes to the DEIS are <br />attached and cir~~lated (40 CFR 1500.4(m) and 1503.4(c)). Copies of the.
