It has been determined that approx-
imately 27,820 acres of lands would be provided for fish and wildlife
management and that would mitigate 70 percent of the losseS. There
would be 7,170 acres purchased specifically for this purpose and about
20,650 acres of other lands acquired for project purposes would also be
made available for wildlife management purposes.

If flood control is eliminated from the plan, it is estimated that there
would be a reduction of 14,000 acres acquired for project purposes.
Th i s wou 1 d resu lt in a reduct ion of the amount of land av ail ab 1 e for
mitigation purposes by at least 50 percent. Therefore, the unmitigated
losses would be suiJ.stantially increased under the plan without flood
control. In lieu of reevaluation, the same enhancement and mitigation
costs are used for the analyses of both plans (with and without flood
control).

A reevalution by Federal, State, and local interests could modify the
extent of the mitigation requirements and enhancement values.

Tota 1 expend itures for mit igat ion are ant ic i pated to be. $10.1 mi.1 1 ion
for the acquisition of the 7,170 acres plus wildlife management faci.1i-
ties. An additional $2.6 million would be spent for fish and wildlife
enhancement. Annual OM&R costs are estimated to $123,300 and $168,100
for mitigation and enhancement, respectively.

Costs for recreation facilities are estimated to be $9 million.

5
