This reevaluation was necessary due to plan changes
and the presence of new standards for benefit evaluation. Irrigation
benefits were evaluated in the preceeding section. A summary of benefits
for other purposes to be served are presented below.

Flood Control

At the time of the 1973 llefinite Plan Report, flood control benefits
provided by the Corps of Engineers' April 10, 1969 letter were estimated
to be $1,599,000 annually.

Since that time, the Corps of Engineers has reevaluated the flood
control benefits. The current evaluation recognizes changes in
hydrology on the South Platte River downstream of Bijou Creek and changes
in their guidelines for computing benefits. On that basis, flood control
benefits have been reduced to $800,000 annually.

I'

---~.

The benefits are summarized in the Corps of Engineers' letter of
March 28, 1975, which is appended to this report.

18
