t)(J059C

SOUTH DAKOTA
It shall be the policy of South Dakota to continue to aupport the
diversion and use of waters. from the main stem of the Missouri River for
developments found to be feasible and desirable. This may limit
hydroelectric power generation.

WYOMING
It is intended that a balanced plan of development be prepared for the
production of power and energy which would give proper consideration to all
activities using water. Operations involved would include thermal,
hydroelectric and wind generating plants, coal and uranium mining, synthetic
fuel production, and other related minerals development. The production of
power and energy ranks in importance with other major activities carried on in
the Nation's economic structure necessary for the support of its improved

standard of living. With the existence of abundant natural resources, there

will be large demands placed on the State in the economic, social, and
environmental fields in meeting these demands.

G-39
