<br />000585 <br /> <br />NEBRASKA <br /> <br />TO improve or provide water treatment and distribution systems for <br /> <br />municipal, industrial, and rural uses in areas of need. <br /> <br />NORTH DAKOTA <br />A State objective is to meet water supply demands wherever it is <br /> <br />economically feasible. <br /> <br />SOUTH DAKOTA <br />Water in adequate quality and quantity shall be provided to meet <br />municipal, industrial, and rural domestic needs based upon population, <br /> <br />currently discernable location trends, and levels of use determined by "state <br /> <br />of the art" water treatment and conservation technology. South Dakota shall <br /> <br />strive to increase and maintain the conservation of water used for municipal, <br /> <br />industrial, and rural domestic water supply. Diversion of water from the main <br /> <br />stem of the Missouri River to provide water for these needs shall be supported. <br /> <br />A policy of the State shall be to assist local governments in providing <br />safe drinking water by providing State technical, administrative, and financial <br />assistance. <br /> <br />Another policy of the State shall be to support the coordinated <br /> <br />development of rural water systems and ensure that their development is carried <br /> <br />out in accordance with local plans and growth policies. <br /> <br />WYOMING <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Under present circumstances and where weather conditions are near normal, <br /> <br />water supplies to meet existing needs are generally adequate. Water quality in <br /> <br />some of the smaller communities, however, is at times a matter of concern, <br /> <br />mainly because of inadequate facilities for treatment to conform to water <br /> <br />quality standards. with the advent of industrial development and its related <br /> <br />population expansion, there are situations developing which will require <br /> <br />G-29 <br />
