<br />which is adequate to meet long-range seasonal requiremertts for domestic, <br /> <br /> <br />municipal, agricultural, power, recreational, navigable, fish and wildlife, and <br /> <br /> <br />quality-control purposes. <br /> <br /> <br />In order to conserve public water supplies during periods of critical <br /> <br /> <br />water deficiency, public water supply authorities appropriating water ahall <br /> <br /> <br />adopt and enforce restrictions consistent with rules adopted by the <br /> <br /> <br />commissioner of natural resources within their areas of jurisdiction to <br /> <br /> <br />restrict lawn sprinkling, car washing, golf course and park irrigation, and <br /> <br /> <br />other nonessential uses, together with appropriate penalties for failure to <br /> <br /> <br />comply with the restrictions. <br /> <br /> <br />The establishment of rural water supply systems is neither encouraged nor <br /> <br /> <br />discouraged by the State. <br /> <br /> <br />Domestic water supply, excluding industrial and commercial uses of <br /> <br /> <br />municipal supply, is the first priority for appropriation and use of water. <br /> <br /> <br />Uses other than domestic, agricultural irrigation, and power, consuming in <br /> <br /> <br />excess of 10,000 gallons per day, are fifth priority. <br /> <br /> <br />MISSOURI <br /> <br /> <br />Implement training and technical assistance programs, monitor the quality <br />of finished water, review plans for the construction of water supply <br />facilities, and inspect water aupply systems to maintain the purity of drinking <br />water, are all items to improve Missouri's water supply. <br />MONTANA <br />A State objective is to solve reasonable municipal, industrial, and rural <br /> <br /> <br />domestic water supply demands and to ensure that Montana's water quality <br /> <br /> <br />standards are met. Small communities should be made aware of potential sources <br /> <br /> <br />of funds that can be used to secure desirable water supplies. <br /> <br />G-28 <br />
