M,ONTANA
The Department of Natural Resources and Conservation will continue to
consider applications for accelerated land management under the 1975 Montana
Renewable Resource Development Program. Increased attention will be given to

identifying specific benefits associated with land conservation measures,

specifically new farming techniques, and improved forest and range management

practices, so that expanded programs can be adequately funded.

Statewide and regional section 208 water quality management planning
recommendations regarding nonpoint source pollution and land treatment
practices will be implemented where practicable.
NEBRASKA
To conserve the State's land resources by improving land treatment and
implementating conservation programs and technologies.
NORTH DAKOTA
The State has an objective which endorses the concept of accelerated land
treatment. Many State studies, now completed, support land treatment measures.

The State continues to support the concept of completing the necessary bank

stabilization measures in two areas: from Garrison Dam to the upper reaches of

Lake Oahe (in Western Dakotas Subbasin): and on the Yellowstone River in

McKenzie County (in Yellowstone Subbasin): and in other areas.
SOUTH DAKOTA
South Dakota shall strive to maintain productivity of soils. Effective

land conservation and management measures should be practiced to control

erosion and reduce the sediment loading from nonpoint source discharges.

Incentives should be provided for land disturbers to implement the best

land-management practices.

G-24
