The Iowa Department of Environmental Quality <br />also assigns priorities for nonpoint and point-source abatement for these <br />streams. <br /> <br />KANSAS <br />By law, consideration in planning must be given to means and methods for <br /> <br />the protection of aquatic and other wildlife and to the use of water to augment <br /> <br />the flow of surface streams for the support of aquatic and other wildlife. No <br /> <br />specific State habitat policy is in effect. The State maintains a listing of <br />protected flora and fauna. <br /> <br />MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Commissioner of Natural Resources, with certain limitations, is <br /> <br />empowered to extend protection to any species of wildlife by limiting or <br /> <br />closing open seasons and areas of the State or by reducing limits whenever <br /> <br />these actions are necessary to guard against undue depletion or extinction or <br /> <br />to promote the propogation and reproduction of such animals. <br /> <br />Valuable natural habitat areas of rare and endangered species of plants, <br /> <br />wildlife, and fish should be preserved. Remaining areas of natural habitation <br /> <br />should be wisely used, and measures protecting these areas should be <br /> <br />established. <br /> <br />MISSOURI <br /> <br />Missouri intends to provide for the control! management! restoration! <br /> <br />conservation! and regulation of the bird! fish! game! forestry! and all <br /> <br />wildlife resources of the state, including hatcheries! sanctuaries! refuges! <br /> <br />reservations! and all other property owned, acquired, or used for such purposes <br /> <br />G-13 <br />
