57

\
I 1 ~hey were in some cedars near a little gully running through
2. our place. I witnessed deer within a quarter of a mile from
3 our house during all seasons.

4

One morning during haying season last year, my son

5 and I drove through some cedars to another field to get the
6 tractor and baler whiml had been left there the night before.
7 There were thirteen ~eer grazing in the field.

8

Early in the spring each year when the grass first

9 begins to grow, we have watched deer come from the cedar nill
10 into the fields to eat. On different occasions, we have
II counted from 30 to 150 deer feeding in and near our fields
12 and neighbors t. fields.

13

Also in the winter I can testify to their presence.

14 One year a few years ago, we had a large stand of baled hay
15 within 25 feet of our driveway. We had a Mercury light in ou
16
yard, and almost any time af~er dark we could look out .our
17 window and see deer feeding on our hay stack. We counted fro
18
three to eight, and it was a family contest to see who would
19
see the big four-point buck first each nignt.

20

21

This year from our winter feed ground where the cattl

are, we counted as many as 26 leaving the field or grazing in

the sagebrush in the cedars nearby.

22

23

,
I, too, love wildlife and I, too, stop each.time I'

see deer to thrill to the gra.ce and beauty of them. We never

tire of watChing them, and even a porcupine ambling across the

24

25
