I have been something like ten times what were projected at

,
!' 2 the time of construction. Thank you very much.

'\

3

MODERATOR: Mr. Steckel, thank you very much.
Our next witness will be 11rs. Patricia Lee Polson.

4

s

MRS. POLSON: 14y name is Patricia Polson. I am a

6 joint owner with my husband, Duane Polson, of 155 acres on
7 Fruitland Mesa, of which approximately 100 acres are irrigabl ,
8 and 205 acres at Maher with approximately 100 acres irrigable
91 have lived at our present home on Fruitland Mesa for more
I
I 10 than twenty years, all of which we have been engaged in farm-
II ing. I have lived in the areA since my bir~l in 1936.
12 It is my contention that the proposed project will in
13 no way harm the grazing land or the natural habitat for the
14 deer. They can only benefit from the alfalfa fields which
15 will be planted. Within the past few weeks, wahave watched
16 deer feeding within 100 yards of our house. As we movedabou
17 the yard and, in turn, called other members of the family to
18 see them, they remained undisturbed. Over the thirty or more
19 minutes that we watched them, they never left the field.
20 Several of them even laid down ,and they were still there when
21 we quit watching them. This morning as I stood at my sink,
22 I watched five deer work their way across our field to the
23 SOU~l, grazing as they went. This afternoon r jumped in my
2~ car to run and porrow something from my neighbor. ! again
25
saw several deer. I counted six without stopping the car.
