Bonny storage water is dTlailable to Hale Ditch
and other natural flow appropriators under t~~p0rary,contrac~s. Much of
the 700 acres served by Hale Ditch is now owned and ope=ated by the Colo-
rado Division of Wildlife for wildlife purposes.

~- .:. "

To avoid the possibility of ice damage to the exposed Hale Ditch outlet
pipe, the reservoir has previously been operat.ed so that '",inter releases
were not required. Modificatl.ons have been completed so tnat Bonny Dam
and Reservoir is operable at any time of year and regula::ory releases
will be made when needed in the future. This change in the operating
plan will provide more water surface area and ~esult in increased bene-
fits for water sports and fish and wildlife programs. The operation pat-
tern with a slowly rising or stable pool enhances fish spa'WI1ing in the
spring and affords excellent hunting conditions each fall.

....1

1974 SmU,lARY

The precipitation was 91 percent of normal while the inflow to Bonny Res-
ervoir was slightly belm< the dry-year forecast. The water supply was
adequate to furnish 321 acre-feet to Amoco Production Company and 21
acre-feet to Ladd Petroleum Corporation.

:":.~. ~<-:.

:;..:
--~~.. .

There were 529 acre-feet delivered under temporary contract sales of
storage water for industrial or irrigation purposes during 1974. As dir-
ected by the Colorado Water Commissioner, 2,383 acre-feet of reservoir
inflows from the South Fork of the Republican River and Landsman Creek
were passed through Bonny Reservoir into Hale Ditch.

13
