Water <br /> <br />is also exported from the basin for use in the Rio Grande Basin in Colorado. <br /> <br />Studies of irrigated land by the Bureau of Reclamation in 19)) show <br /> <br />32,550 acres were irrigated by water originating on the watershed of Pine <br /> <br />River and tributaries. Of this, )1,910 acres were reported to be in Colo- <br /> <br />rado and 640 acres in New Mexico. <br /> <br />A study of the arable land under the Vallecito Reservoir conducted by <br /> <br />the Bureau of Reclamation in 1942 gave )),160 acres as,the lands then <br /> <br />irrigated. Of this, 32,660 acres were in Colorado, and 500 acres in New <br /> <br />Mexico. <br /> <br />The Pine River Project Extension report of 1958 by the Bureau of <br /> <br />Reclamation states that since the 1942 arable land study an additional <br /> <br />)300 acres of non-Indian land have been placed under irrigation and an <br /> <br />additional 920 acres were ready for irrigation in 1958. The Bureau of <br /> <br />Indian Affairs estimates that in Colorado 600 acres of Indian land have <br /> <br />been placed under irrigation since 1942, and an additional 400 acres were <br /> <br />ready for irrigation in 1959. <br /> <br />-2)- <br />
