Records show the amount of water exported from the San Juan River Basin
to the Rio Grande River Basin in Colorado has increased in recent years. The

increase will continue as facilities are improved and expanded. The quantity

of imported water has remained stable over a long period of years. 20,000 to

.30,000 acre feet of the water measured at the Bluff, Utah, station annually

is return flow from the water imported to the San Juan River Basin from the

Dolores River Basin in Colorado. A part of this water, averaging 24,200 acre

feet per year, is measured at the McElmo Creek gaging station and is included

in the total runoff leaving the State of Colorado. The balance is water of

unmeasured streams leaving the State.
