As used in NRS 538.040 to <br />538.260, inclusive, "commission" means the Colorado River commis- <br />sion of Nevada. <br /> <br />538.050 Creation of commission; number of commissioners. A <br />commission is hereby created, to be known as the Colorado River <br />commission of Nevada, consisting of five commissioners: The direc- <br />tor of the state department of conservation and natural resources, <br />and four commisRioncrs to be appointed by the governor. . <br />[Part 1:71:1935; 1931 NCL ~ 1443.01]-(NRS A 1963, 982) <br /> <br />538.060 Qualifications of appointed oommissioners. <br />1. Each appointcd commissioner shall have the following quali- <br />fications: <br />(a) Ho shall be a citizen of the State of Nevada and a resident <br />therein for at least 5 years. <br />(b) He shall have a general knowledge of the development of the <br />Colorado River and its tributaries within the State of Nevada. <br />(e) He shall have general knowledge of tbe rights of the State of <br />Nevada insofar as the same pertain to the waters of the Colorado <br />River allocated or allotted to or contracted by the State of Nevada, <br />and insofar as the same pertain to the acquisition and distribution <br />of the electrical power belonging or allotted to or contracted by the <br />State of Nevada and gencrated at Hoover Dam and other hydro. <br />electric power facilitie-s on the Colorado River. <br />2. Not more than three commissioners shall bc of the same major <br />political affiliation. <br />[Part 1:71:1935; 1931 NCL ~ 1443.01] + [2:71:1935; 1931 NCL ~ <br />1443.02]-(NRS A 1965, 403) <br /> <br />538.070 Terms of office of appointed commissioners. Within 30 <br />days after March 20, 1935, the governor shall appoint four commis- <br />sioncrs. Two of the commissioners shall hold office for terms of 2 <br />years, and, hvo of the commissioners shall hold office for terms of <br />4 years. Thereafter appointmcnts shall be made for terms of 4 years. <br />All appointed commissioners shall hold office until their successors <br />are appointed and qualified. <br />[Part 1:71:1935; 1931 NCL ~ 1443.01]-(NRS A 1959, 851) <br /> <br />538.080 Remo"als and vaoancies. <br />1. 'l'he governor may at any time remove any commissioner for <br />neglect of duty or malfeasance in office. <br />2. All commissioners shall give bond <br />to the State of Nevada for the faithful performance of their duties, <br />in such sum as the state board of examiners shall, from time to time, <br />dircct.
