.

.

During the reporting period, 65 new casc contracts were
signed obligating a total of $1.6 million. In addition, 37
long term agreements and 15 annual agreements were signed
N obligating $438,000 in ACP salinity funds. As of September
C.H 30, 1989 a total of 186 CRSC contracts have been signed. In
00 FY 1989, 83 sprinker systems and 60 miles of pipelines were
W installed. As a result, SCS estimates the annual reduction
in seepage and deep percolation ,to be 34,524 acre-feet for an
annual salt load reduction of 36,414 tons.

Glenwood-Dotsero S rin s Unit Reclamation - A proposal
for a e era -pr vate pro ect at enwoo Spr ngs has been
submi tted by Energy Ingenuity and Mission Energy Companies.
The proposal calls for a co-generation project with a 25 MW
gas fired generating unit with the waste heat being used for
desalting the Glenwood Springs flow. The proposal would
require no funding of construction by the federal government.
Reclamation would agree to with a 30\ nonfederal
reimbursement, to pay for the removal of and disposal of
70,000 tons of salt annually at the time of disposal at a
unit cost competitive with other salinity control units
identified in the plan of implementation. The Forum has
recommended that Reclamation move forward with the proposal
and request Congressional approval.

Price-San Rafael Rivers Unit Reclamation-De artment of
Agricu ture) - Rec amat on an SCS entered nto a ormal
agreement to prepare a joint plan of implementation and
Environmental Impact Statement. A joint Reclamation/SCS
draft plan is nearing completion and will be published for
review in 1991.

San Juan River Unit
~riculture) - In sea year 1989, Rec am at on comp ete ts
plan formufation activities for the San Juan River Unit in
the Hammond Area and will begin preparation of a Draft PR/EIS
in 1990. The recommended plan proposes to line all unlined
sections of the Hammond project irrigation system. A
preliminary investigation by SCS in 1989 indicates that an
onfarm program in the Hammond area appears feasible and cost
effective. Planning activities will continue in 1990.

Lower Vir in River Unit Reclamation - A combined water
supply sa n ty control proJect stu y was completed in 1988.
With Nevada Power Company's plans for construction of the
Harry Allen Power Plant deferred, further study of this unit
by Reclamation has been suspended as no other cost effective
salinity control scheme has been identified. A report to
document the studies to date has been completed.

-10-
