In Grand Valley, SCS has estimated that approximately 230,000 tons

per year reduction in salt tonnage can be achieved through implementing

the 10-year irriga tior. improvement program on some 1,8,000 acres. 0[[-

farm lateral improvements related to the on-farm work account for 100,000

tons of the 230,000 tons.

The SCS provided conservation technical assistance to a total of

380 farmers in Grand Valley during 1'Y 1980, including carrying out

irrigation water management planning on 3,329 acres. Some 140 farmers

completed one or more practices during 1980.

The major practices installed and cost shared hy ASCS in FY 1980,
