sampled with ISMP by electrofishing to get an increased sample size,
The additional sampling will be determined by the individual
investigators based on data needs for the different rivers or reaches,
The additional sampling will become a more formal component of ISMP
after investigators have an opportunity to see how it can be worked
into existing sampling requirements and manpower restrictions,

Subadult-adult Colorado squawfish monitoring originally targeted only
the endangered fishes. Relatively few data were collected on the
native species that still comprised an important component of the
overall fish community. Investigators will now put more effort into
working with the entire fish community. Investigators will identify
and count all species collected during the first mile of electrofishing
in each reach, This additional work also will be formally added to
ISMP protocol after investigators standardize the information to be
collected.

The report also recommended that ISMP collect more information on the
sympatric species collected during yay Colorado squawfish monitoring.
However, the HlH committee felt that there were sufficient data along
those lines being collected during related studies currently being
conducted in the same reaches, The need for expanding the data
collected with ISMP will be reconsidered when these other studies
conclude.

The report recommended increased sampling during humpback chub
monitoring. The sampling should include increased frequency of
sampling for adults and use of additional gears that would target yay
and juvenile chubs as well, In the short term this should only apply
to ISMP sampling in Black Rocks, The report also recommended that ISMP
sampling be temporarily suspended in Westwater Canyon because of a more
intensive study currently being conducted there (46-Flow effects on
humpback chub in Westwater Canyon). ISMP sampling in Westwater Canyon
will be reassessed at the conclusion of that study in FY 97.

An annual report summarizing the data collected in 1993 also was
completed and distributed in FY 94 (McAda et al, 1994b). Work on data
collected during 1994 has begun, However, an annual report must wait
until data are received from the larval Fish Laboratory,

VII. Recommendations: Continue ISMP with modifications as recommended by
McAda et al. 1994a.

VIII. Project Status: Project is ongoing and on-track, It is scheduled to
continue through the length of the Recovery Program.

IX.
