<br />Ruedi Reservoir are delivered to the IS-Mile Reach, Each year scopes <br />of work, contracts, and annual reports are prepared for both gages. <br />Task 3 - Support for the Recovery Implementation Program Activities: <br />Flaming Gorge - The Division of Water Resources coordinated and <br />monitored endangered fish study releases from Flaming Gorge during <br />the spring runoff and post runoff period, Information on releases <br />were provided to Recovery Program participants and research work was <br />coordinated to coincide with various stages of the releases. <br />Aspinall Unit - Assistance was provided to the Bureau of Reclamation <br />in coordinating releases from the Aspinall Unit to coincide with the <br />spring peak and to facilitate biological studies. The interest of <br />the Recovery Program was presented at the quarterly operation <br />meetings for the Aspinall Unit and input was provided on flow <br />patterns, protection of water for endangered fish, and fish passage <br />at Redlands. The Division of Water resources also provided support <br />to the Program Director in surveying Program participants on <br />electronic mail capabilities, evaluating potential systems for <br />electronic communication, and recommending a system for establishing <br />a bulletin board system for the Recovery Program. <br /> <br />Task 4 - Water Rights Acquisition Committee activities: Scopes of <br />work and contracts were developed for analysis for I5-Mile Reach <br />return flows, evaluation of the return flow gage rating table, and <br />for the water right specialist to gather information on three small <br />reservoirs in the Basin, The work also included contracting for the <br />activities funded through the Fish and Wildlife Foundation and <br />supervising the water rights specialist, Work has also continued on <br />developing a long-term water lease agreement with the Colorado <br />Division of Parks and Recreation for water from Steamboat Lake. <br /> <br />Due to low flows throughout the Basin, considerable time was spent <br />coordinating the release and delivery of water from Ruedi Reservoir <br />and TriState Generation, A RuedijI5-Mile Reach coordination team was <br />established and met once a week by phone to adjust releases from <br />Ruedi to meet conditions on the river and to conserve water. The <br />entire 20,000 acre feet of water was delivered to the I5-Mile Reach <br />in 1994, and the Bureau of Reclamation also made discretionary power <br />releases to supplement flows in October, Work was also continued on <br />development of a 5-year contract for additional water from Ruedi <br />Reservoir. The Division of Water Resources will be preparing a <br />report to the Colorado Water Conservation Board on the benefits of <br />Ruedi releases for endangered fish, <br /> <br />Task 5: Assistance was provided to the Colorado Water Conservation <br />Board (Board) in efforts to understand, quantify, and refine flow <br />recommendations for the I5-Mile Reach. Work also included assisting <br />the Board in identifying the relationship between flow <br />recommendations and Colorado's Compact entitlement. Assistance was <br />also provided to the Grand Junction and Vernal CRFP offices in the <br />integration of channel monitoring results and techniques of including <br />channel characteristics into the process for developing or refining <br />flow recommendations, <br /> <br />Task 6 - Hydrology Support for Colorado River Biological Opinions: <br />The Division of Water Resources also provided support to researchers <br /> <br />2 <br />
