The carryover storage requirement at Bear Creek Lake will
be determined as part of the. Operations study and will be based
on the best estimate possible of the average annual needs
determined at that time.

I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
1

enlarged permanent pool that the interested parties might agree
to as mitigation for anticipated impacts resulting from water
supply operations at the facility and to help cover a portion
of the evaporation replacement needs at Cherry Creek Reservoir.

The averaqe annual exchange potential with Cherry Creek
Reservoir was taken from a draft report prepare by the Water
Conservation Board staff in 1986. The exchange potential is
defined as the ability to supply senior appropriators on the
South Platte River mainstem with water in storage at Bear Creek
Lake at times when those senior appropriators would be calling
water past Cherry Creek Reservoir. The exchange. thereby.
would allow Cherry Creek Reservoir to retain at least a portion
of those waters that otherwise would have had to pass through
Cherry Creek dam and reservoir to downstream users. It must be
understood that the exchange potential could vary significantly
from year to year depending on the stream conditions. and the
amount and locations of exchange water available.

All other data on Cherry Creek Reservoir is taken directly
from. "An Evaluation of the Cherry Creek Basin Water Resources
and Water Rights." prepared by the office of the State
Engineer. Division of Water Resources in June. 1988.
