chief of field party) watch for announcements of examinations which are
currently being given for probatio~al appointments. These announcements
are posted in all first and second class post offices and Civil Service
Commission offices. For skilled trades positions, such as carpenter,
pipefitter, mechanic, diamond driller, cement finisher, shovel operator,
etc., write to the Project Engineer, Bureau of Reclamation, Estes Park,
Colorado.
Since nearly all construction work will be contracted, practically
all construction laborers, helpers, cooks, truck drivers, skilled mechanics.
foremen, timekeepers, costkeepers, storehouscmen, etc., will be employed
directly by the contractors and not by the Government. Those seeking em-
ployment with the contractors should not go to the vicinity of the work
in the bope of securing positions, since only a limited number of positions
are available. It is quite possible that when construction contracts are
awarded, the contractors will arrange to recruit some of their labor through
the Colorado State Employment Service, or the United States Employment Serv-
. ice with offices in Denver, Fort Collins, Longmont, and Greeley, and con-
tact offices elsevmere. It is suggested, therefore, that those desiring
employment in skilled and unskilled labor positions register with the Em-
ployment Services, assiSting without cost to both employers and applicant,s.
